The United Nations has set 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as 'an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.'

We believe that prayer is the biggest action a Christian can begin with. Will you join us in an urgent call for prayer, as we intercede for women and girls through each of the Sustainable Development Goals?

Goal #2: Zero Hunger | Find out more
End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture

  • Unequal power relations in households render women more vulnerable to food insecurity. Globally, women had a 10% higher risk of experiencing food insecurity.

'Right from the beginning of time when you shaped us and filled our lungs with your breath, our every need was known by you and fulfilled through you.

When sin entered the garden it introduced hunger, a companion and consequence of greed.

As we spend a moment to contemplate a goal that, if fulfilled, would result in zero hunger - we need first to repent of a culture where more equals less and excess equals success. Father, forgive us. We pray for those who right now feel the pains of hunger. We pray for those who live a routine of life without. We ask for your provision.

Jehovah Jirah, be their provider. Just as you supplied manna for the Israelites, hungry in the desert, Lord do it again.

We acknowledge our opportunity to partner with you in achieving this goal. Help us to be generous with our 'more', and aware of those with less. Awake the world's consciousness to the reality of hunger: illness through poor nutrition, death through starvation and children malnourished and unable to thrive.

Show us how we can be part of your solution. Let what breaks your heart, break ours, but not so we sit in broken pieces. Instead, let us use the discomfort to bring change, wherever we are and wherever we can.

Amen.'
