Greetings from Auckland.  Let me tell you about my “GOOD LIFE”.

My given name is Glenys Esther (great name Esther; I have often felt that God had called me “for such a time as this”).

I share the rank of Major with my husband Terry Heese, we have been married for 43 years, and Salvation Army Officers for 41 years, what a variety of experiences have been ours during this time.

At present my appointments are Director of Women’s Ministries for the Northern Division and Territorial Child Sponsorship Secretary, and one or two other responsibilities which help to add to the challenges and experiences.

I have two lovely daughters, Delwyn, married to Drew Bennett and Rhondda married to Greg Middleton and 6 beautiful grandchildren here and 2 waiting for me in heaven.

I love to read, I am more naturally an introvert and my life is so extrovert at times. Prior to becoming a Salvation Army Officer I worked at Whitcombe & Tombs in Christchurch in the Children’s Book Department so children’s books also are a love in my life.

Jig saws cross-stitch and knitting also are part of my holiday must do’s.

Twins feature largely in my later life story, and link with my passion for Child Sponsorship.  Daughter Rhondda and husband Greg had twins Holly and William in December 2003. Holly lived only 1 day and William for 10 days, a heart breaking time for us all.

In September 2005 the Lord blessed Rhondda and Greg with twins again, Katie and Henry who are now nearly seven, and are a great joy to us.

In memory of Holy and William, Terry and I took on the sponsorship of Kenyan twins Jacob and Isaac, and I was privileged to meet them and their Mum, Ruth when I travelled to Nairobi to a Child Sponsorship Conference in 2008.

Never would I have ever imagined how many miles I have had opportunity to travel and how many opportunities I have had over the years since God called me and I said’ Yes’.
