The United Nations has set 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as 'an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.'

We believe that prayer is the biggest action a Christian can begin with. Will you join us in an urgent call for prayer, as we intercede for women and girls through each of the Sustainable Development Goals?

Goal #4: Quality Education | Find out more
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all

  • An estimated 15 million girls and 10 million boys of primary-school age are out of school.

'It breaks our hearts to hear that over 265 million children are currently out of school and that even those in school are missing out on basic skills in reading and math.

We know education is so crucial in breaking cycles of poverty and reducing inequalities.

We know that you, God, can fulfil our children's longing for wisdom and a better life. We pray that you would remove the obstacles that prevent our children from accessing quality education. We pray that you would raise up resourcing and training to strengthen their educators. We pray for the role we have to play. Move us to act.

Urge us to challenge our governments to make education a priority through where they invest their resources. May we seek, individually and collectively, firm commitments from them towards education opportunities for the vulnerable and marginalised in our communities. We ask that through us and the power of your mighty arm, you would make inclusive and quality education freely available so all your children can have the fullness of life you promise each of us.

Amen.'
