WM Children's Wordfind: Finding women of influence
We've teamed up with our friend Lieutenant Mike Bryan to bring you this free children's word find - featuring some of the women of influence in the Bible!
We think that telling stories of the women of influence in the Bible is crucial for little boys and girls to grasp the love of God fully.
We are celebrating Aotearoa, New Zealand becoming the first country in the world 125 years ago to redress the balance and recognise women's right to vote. We would love to help the children in every Corps and Children's Ministry to engage with the message of freedom for women that will be being preached all around the country.
Women of influence word find
So, with the help of Lieutenant Mike Bryan from The Salvation Army Papakura, we have created a beautiful Children's Ministry resource for you to download - a wordfind of some of the women of influence in the Bible. Lieutenant Mike kindly released his creation for us all to use, available for download below in two colours, and A4, A5 or A6 to suit your printing needs.
This is something that can help engage children in the whakapapa (lineage) of faith and leadership that the women of the Bible leave to us today.
Where do I find these women?
We are hoping that whoever does this word find decides to look for the women in real life. We have told the children to ask someone (or Google) the women, so why not prepare your Children's Ministry workers, parents, leaders or yourself in advance, to use this opportunity to research some mana wahine you haven't heard of before? We could all benefit from unearthing the stories of the sisters who shape the church.
Suffrage Sundays for #suffrage125
It is with anticipation we look forward to all the ways you will celebrate the Suffrage Sundays (September 16th and September 23rd). These two services are the days the Territorial Women's Ministries' President Commissioner Yvonne Westrupp and Territorial Secretary of Women's Ministries Colonel Heather Rodwell have asked all Salvation Army Corps throughout New Zealand to have women on the platform preaching.
Let us know how you get on and bless you this suffrage Sunday as we celebrate #suffrage125 and the fact that #ourwomenpreach. Please use this wherever you like, and all throughout the year - we look forward to seeing the stories of girls and women become the norm for services and studies in the everyday, for everyone.
