The Shepherd and His Sheep - Part 16

Reflections on Psalm 23 and God the shepherd.

The Lord is the Gardener and Jesus is the Vine. Jesus is also the Gardener. The Lord is my Shepherd. Jesus is the Lamb of God who has taken away the SIN of the world. He is also the Good Shepherd – my Shepherd. Mystery of mysteries!

He anoints my head with oil. It is the oil of gladness, the oil of healing, the oil of choosing and He has chosen me. I am His sheep and His branch. I abide, dwell, and live in His presence. Sometimes the daily chores of living come between us and I can temporarily lose sight of Him. I find myself wandering, but the Lord my Shepherd always sees me. I am secure in His love. He has chosen and anointed me to be His – a shepherd of His sheep. He teaches me and leads me to do the right things. It is a paradox; a lamb is a shepherd just like the Lamb of God is my Shepherd. My cup runs over with blessings. I cannot count the blessings. Praise the Lord for His great love.

Help me to bear fruit for Your sake oh Lord, my Shepherd. The first fruit I am to bear is love.

Psalm 23, John 15.

“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.” Galatians 5:22-26 (NLT)
