The Lord is my Shepherd. I know the sound of His voice. Sometimes He speaks with the voice of thunder – loud and strong. His is the voice of creation and the voice of destruction. His voice commands and justice is accomplished. At other times He speaks with a still small voice.

I listen to the thunder, the earthquake, the flood and the mighty wind expecting to hear His voice. In the quiet time He speaks. That is when His voice is tender and full of mercy. I expected the voice of correction and judgement, but He spoke with the voice of forgiveness and mercy. His is the voice of healing and re-creation.

He speaks and the sound of His voice is so sweet…the quiet, still small voice of my Shepherd. When the turmoil of the storms of my life drowns out His voice – He speaks “Peace be still” the waves and wind hear His voice and obey. I recognize His voice and I run to Him. There are times when I would hide from His voice… but He knows my hiding places. I cannot shift blame for my sin, but I confess and He forgives. Then He teaches me to avoid temptation. I love the sound of His voice.  Psalm 29, John 10

“The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea. The God of glory thunders. The Lord thunders over the mighty sea. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.” Psalm 29:3-4 (NLT)
