The Lord is my Shepherd…Yes, even when I walk in the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for the Shepherd is with me and He is the light of the world. Isaiah 9:2 holds a promise: “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light -- a light that will shine on all who live in the land where death casts its shadow.” (NLT) Our journey through life is filled with temptations of greener grass in forbidden places. The journey is challenged by fear of known and unknown dangers. Death casts its shadow and fear can stop us in our tracks, cause us to faint or even to run. Perfect love casts out all fear. Perfect love can help us overcome our fear.

Why should I fear? The One I love and serve is leading me and is my light in the dark. Believe me I have been afraid of the dark and of death’s shadow, but the Lord, my Shepherd became my night light and He gives me a sense of security. He is the One who assures me and keeps me moving forward. I can trust Him. My Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, Lord of Lords, Shepherd, Friend and Light of the World. Jesus is the Great Light.

Revelation 21:22-24 “I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light. The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their glory.”
