The Lord is my Shepherd, He leads me. He leads me through the valley of the shadow of death – Storm Valley. This is the path we need to take and storms happen in Storm Valley. I take every precaution I can to avoid “storms” in my life. I do what is right; I make wise decisions and let the Shepherd lead me. Still the decisions and actions of others can cause storms in my life. Since I live in a world infected by bad decisions and actions of other people there will be storms.

Some of the storms are just uncomfortable challenges in the journey. Other storms are scary, sad or even dangerous. I can get caught up and carried into the storms of life. Imagine me – a sheep who was frightened by the flash of lightening and the clap of thunder from a heavy down pour of a storm. I was slipping and sliding in the gooey mud, soaked, shivering and cold. That was when the Great and Good Shepherd rescued me. Psalm 59:16, 17 “But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress. O my Strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love.”

Wow, what a Shepherd! Amazing God, You rescue me from the storms of life. Help me to remember the storms and the lessons I learn from them. I can trust your unfailing love. I can follow you where you lead, even in Storm Valley – I shall not fear. You will deliver me and I will dwell in green pastures. I can trust You. Your reputation gives me confidence and Your love assures me.

“Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, Lord. They rejoice all day long in your wonderful reputation. They exult in your righteousness. You are their glorious strength.

It pleases you to make us strong.” Psalm 89:15-17 (NLT)
