The Shepherd and His Sheep - Part 6

Reflections on Psalm 23 and God the shepherd.

The Lord is my Shepherd and His sheepdogs are named Goodness and Mercy.

They follow me and help me keep up with the Shepherd. I am afraid of wild dogs or dogs from other sheepfolds because they could hurt me, but I trust Goodness and Mercy. They are friends and strong companions.

From Time to time I stray and they have to pursue me and remind me that the Lord is my Shepherd and I am His sheep. I delight in the Presence of the Good Shepherd and love the face that I am a member of His Household. Because I belong to His flock my wool is valued. He can use it to help others…it is used for clothes and blankets which help provide cover, warmth and comfort.

My life as a sheep owned by the Good Shepherd is a demonstration of His care. When others see how He cares for me, they will want to belong to the Good Shepherd and follow Him. I will honour Him all the days of my life and dwell with Him forever.

Because the Lord is my Shepherd others will see how good it is to belong to Him and they will follow. The Lord, the Creator knows my name and has chosen me to follow. I shall – I do want Him. I will follow. I have everything I need. I dwell with Him.

Psalm 16:11, “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.” (NLT)
